relax norway, relax!!!

i recently listened to the new album "New Kind Of Orchide" of norwegian based 4 piece psychedelics Rancho Relaxo. their 6th cd is a perfect mixture of shoegazing guitars, creaping beats and floating lyrics. although it's their 6th release, i've never heard of this band so far. too ignorrant? i don't know, but listening to the whole album at once is like sitting in the train, relaxing, looking out of the big dirty window, the landscape is flashing by, your eyes almost closed and then, suddenly, there is this voice anouncing the next station...this moment where you get reanimated of your numbness... the title track "new kind of orchide" of the album is such a moment... the song is accompanied by big dark organs... love it. other highlights are "wisdom blackout" or "i love you so"...

even though, the albums songs don't vary too much, except those train-announces, it is a great dark shoegaze album with this scandinavian influences and a soft touch of folk rock... so lay back, relax and think of the train as you listen to the music of Rancho Relaxo... what a name ;-)

15 years went by since the birth of the mp3 format. happy birthday!
The format has been developed since 1982 under the administration of Prof. Musman of the Fraunhofer Institut Erlangen. The development was intended to compress audio files and therefore to save discspace by filtering every tone which isn't hearable for human ears. It got it's name on the 14th of july 1995 after a institute intererior poll. Here are two tracks from 1995, to celebrate mp3's birthday.
