They invented Paris...

...and they did a great job. well, what i mean is not a city or something else. i'm talking about suiss located 3-piece band "we invented paris". as they did their first gig in munich yesterday, while supporting the pains of being pure at heart, i had the opportunity to get an impression of the bands musical as well as entertaining repertoire. 3 absolutely sympathic guys which were celebrating their first show in munich like little childs are excited when unpacking their birthday presents...
the bands sound spans from notwist-creaping beats to placebo-like electric guitars. because of their keenness to experiment and their almost touchable love of detail the band might have a great future, i guess. well, lets see.
but first of all, you are invited to download a really fantastic indietronic version of the bands first single "iceberg" for free on the "we invited paris" - website. just klick here and follow the link right below both videos. have fun!

dreamy lo-fi pop right from the lagoon!

bandcamp is evolving to a big gloomy paradise for all those music lovers out there! while navigating through this sea of flourishing bands, i discovered youth lagoon today. this yet very unknown (well ok, there are 2000 fans on the bands facebook page) band is the one-man project of trevor powers from the u.s. the two tracks on his bandcamp page are absolutely smashing."july" as well as "cannons" are both very dreamy and ear-catching lo-fi pop songs. and, as you might have allready expected: they are available as free downloads here
be aware: you might stuck on repeat. so don't forget to find the right time to exit this dreamy still young (youth) lagoon!

sound café made in usofa...

by mombi

"solemn, electronic-tinged folk
with the perfect amount of optimism lurking
amidst its lonely sounds"

site of crime: once again usofa. as so often here lately.
this time: made in denver, colorado.

now it´s going to be dramatic, but also intimate. the songwriting duo kael smith and matt herron play music beneath their pseudonym "mombi" and brought recently something unique special forward. a dark ambient moody electronic-tinged folk mixture amidst spherical soundscapes decorates profound soundsurfaces of a lp, that answers to an acutely resonant name of "the wounded beat". a stunning outstanding "the misunderstanding" creates a subtle backdrop of ethereal atmospherics and marks a different shade of melancholy through soft weighty vocals, layered hypnotic guitars and fleshed out with herron´s piano and hazy keys. crosswise music lovers, i don`t want you to miss this nugget. roger that!

a worthwile trip to canada...

"stove"
by eric`s trip

...means a trip back to sonic youth reminding a song of them where they took their name from...

...sound a bit like a trifle different kind of melodic nirvana...

...means a trip to seattle s flagship grunge label sub pop in the early 90s where the band has achieved prominence as the first canadian band to be signed...

...means more precisely their east seated hometown named moncton, new brunswick...

...might be described with the band`s own words as "sappy melodic pop music on top of thick distortion"...
