westside starting 5

#LA15 ´´lp   WESTside 5` ep

|W| cassettes won`t listen\ to have a crush
|E| keepaway\ yellow wings
|S| warpaint\ cc
|T| brixtonboogie\ black betty
|5| p64\ loud pipes (ratatat remix)

back-to-back games among nba schedules are always a huge challenge for each sportsman. for this reason we also would like to bounce the music ball from coast to coast, so "LA 15" consits of a westside story line up as well and our straightforward paths follow artists with one-of-a-kind manual independent work. at times nice slanting playful soundcapes covers a spectrum to bolding upbeat casual ones. back to the roots means partly back to a sun-dappled coastline breeze!

eastside starting 5

#LA15 ´´lp   EASTside 5` ep

|E| started from the bottom part 2 type beat /drake
|A when i`m small /phantogram
|S| the hustle /bisco smith x cassettes won`t listen
|T| none shall pass /aesop rock
|5| turbulence (cassettes won`t listen remix) /birds1

as well #LA15 and its identity casts their shadows on a music occasion indeed. inspired by the original nba all star setting in february 2015 in new york city where bandscheibenrecords has always found its rare and unique inspiration for create things in music and art. so our once spoken slogan `home can be where magic is made` lead us back to a bunch of sublime numbers as kind of some memorable tribute. i`m really glad that dee3 and myself had both the opportunity to walk the talk in early april 2015 and get to the bottom of the scene. please give a very warm welcome to our eastside starting 5. none of you shall pass the limited!

shoulders, toes and knees...

back-to-back in1996 when placebo`s single `36 degrees` from their self-titled debut has slipped on surface and a raw and edgy sound caught the blood temperature of a unique generation in a sublime way...

in 2005 molko slowed down the original into a bloody intense guitar version surrounded by olsdal`s formidable bass lines and hewitt`s emotional drum hits. probably by far their peak performance time slot in their career spot.

nowadays almost 20 years since seeing the light of day a molko classic in a new-cutted stripped down version from their home match up at london in august 2015 don`t fail at all - anyhow it transfers it`s vintage catchyness into a newer carefree classical orchestra robe. are you still running a temperature sore?

advent season

we paint the future from this bedroom.
with lots of progress; cold and heartless.
and nothing lives, just twitches and moves.
it's all synthetic, but it's all we've got.

ten thousand lines run from our minds.
and ten thousand plans spread from our hands.
and now we can see just what we've done (oh no)
and now we can see what we've become (oh no)
and now we can see just where we stand

it`s been time to warm up our hibernal hearts in late november a little bit `cause florida`s 'electric president` leaders ben cooper and alex kane have been complaining somewhat back in 2006...

perfect dreampop for 3 am

I know that you say I get mean when I'm drinking,
But then again sometimes I get really sweet
So what does it mean if I tell you to go fuck yourself
Or if I say that you're beautiful to me

let the war begin

thanks to my blogmate spox, i've rediscovered the war on drugs again. how the hell could i ever be heedless of this monstrous folk-like sound. my favorite, an ocean in between the waves, scurries  between melancholic guitars, frantic drums and recurring explosions with gazing guitar walls. hell yeah. i need to see them live, soon.

I'm at the darkened hillside
And there's a haze right between the trees
And I can barely see you
You're like an ocean in between the waves

song of the week(end)

Down on my knees, felt I made a mistake
You're drug that I couldn't shake
You were the air that I couldn't breathe
Lie awake for wait our restrain
You, me, I'm a rotten human

curacao blue

i was still waiting for the daylight when you appeared
and when i'd wrap my arms around you
i wasn't scared
i know just what i was drinking when i first was untrue
sea air, cheap beer, and some loneliness all mixed with curacao blue

mansionscamp | mansionsbook

within a bloody brilliant lifetime in the south of istria earlier this month i hadn`t only stumbled across a blue bar liquid but more upon a really marvelous song named `curacao blue` from mansions an unknown band from music ground of seattle. its lyrics are so soft and fragile in a special way of getting spoken and disappearing completely. a voice that doesn't rise above a whisper. there's a lot in between, as well. especially a late eve-nin` pleasure for sure.

lower dens

oh what a perl.
4-piece dream-pop-band lower dens seduces us with their jangling song ondine. this is the best mixture of synth and guitar sounds i've heard for a long time. well done.

I think you'll understand
The way I feel can't be helped
You owe them nothing
It's time to walk away and leave this behind
Let go

once they looked like giants: i don`t know why...

you wanna teach but not be taught
and i wanna sell but not be bought
so let us not be someone
lost in between our needs and wants
so let us not be lonesome

...i`m literally lacking approach for dcfc`s newer material including their last three ep`s since 2006. maybe i`m too obsessed with their earlier soundscapes and a zeitgeisty momentum of urgency and distorted dynamics in the matter of rare-angled independent music combined with gibbard`s classy songwriting. nevertheless within followed worthwhile black cab session at least i`m revelling a little bit of death cab fomer ball possession... see you in november once again, then with a superb newcomer support as well from seattle of course: chastity belt!

video of the week

once more i`d like to commemorate not only one of the punchiest female rock acts at present but also an extremely farseeing british video artist behind them, who has been familiar with electronic musicians like aphex twin and björk. chris cunningham, in marriage with warpaint`s bassist jenny lee lindberg, has filmed an as far as possible unknown documentary about warpaint and her self titled lp released in 2014. an excerpt out of it constitutes a short-cut music video from their single `love is to die`. as well as he has been responsible for warpaint`s cover artwork including four matched faces of each band members. eye-minded his footage seems very inspiring so far. indeed not really a huge surprise if you know the producing standard of the ladies` previous work. relaxed coolness!

`cause the good things comin`

even 12 years later today`s vision of an older chan marshall song makes you still thinking of `you are free`times since back to these days. a cat will always have enough bite power yet. "hold the gun way deep down.."

no way out - i`ll start believing

personally one of the most captivating bands in currently rock genre put out some new tunes as forerunner of a series of tracks during 2015. firstly `no way out`, a form of self-contained nearly 8 minute dreamy psych-rock track formerly known as part of their live setting since last year has been recorded by themselves by now. along with it these la-based female quartet delivers `i`ll start believing`, a remarkably short track with more direct and immediate hallmarks. whether it`s not stretched out it’s still quintessentially warpaint with an intense and beguiling vein of angelic guitars underpinned by jenny lindberg`s pixiesk bass backbone, stella mozgawa`s tight-balanced drum sequences and theresa wayman`s echo-voiced harmonies. i`ll start believing in you...

sometimes i sit and think, and sometimes i just sit

put me on a pedestal and i'll only disappoint you
tell me i'm exceptional and i promise to exploit you
give me all your money and i'll make some origami honey
i think you're a joke but i don't find you very funny

my bloody valentine or a cabinet of natural curiosities

"madhouse  is homebase"

it`s the vision that makes one`s day
it`s the very idea that bears away
it`s the illusion that remembers
it`s the loneliness that dismembers
it`s the disease of disquiet
it`s the existence that bents on diet

call me imagination, call me out of line
i`m in a desperate situation with a mask to hide behind
i need a place to vacation in the name of valentine
where the waves caressed a hand print in the grade of nine

it`s the reclusion erodes me
it`s the sorrow hoises ruin
it`s the silence pulls me into pieces
it`s the fear bites me from behind
it`s the mind wins the day
how evil´s trouble future way
it`s hard to weight much less to tell
even to prounounce me dead or well

call me animation, call me asinine
i`ve got a hotel reservation in the name of merely mine
in the place where i vacation i`m killing just-in-time
the affect on our relations feels like a slap across in-line

it`s the reclusion hates you
it´s the silence hates you
it`s the dark thoughts hate you
yeah they love to see you playing wrong
but they hate to see you muscle on

is it my imagination, is it an isolated mind?
is it an association or just a way of killing time?
heaven knows every late night break even just in rhyme
as the affect on our relations will pay you back in kind

(within spox has rearranged partly few lyrics in the refrain from placebo`s japanese bonustrack b-side `in a funk´ as well the ending line in the bridge from the kills b-side `london hates you´)

Sometimes memories came back to me meanwhile by rearrange their style. one of our slogans every once in a while has ever been: home can be where magic is made. so therefor we`ll recall the glory past of my bloody valentine and recommend you warmly a bunch of their formidable material from earlier days on a day the name says it all...
