curacao blue

i was still waiting for the daylight when you appeared
and when i'd wrap my arms around you
i wasn't scared
i know just what i was drinking when i first was untrue
sea air, cheap beer, and some loneliness all mixed with curacao blue

within a bloody brilliant lifetime in the south of istria earlier this month i hadn`t only stumbled across a blue bar liquid but more upon a really marvelous song named `curacao blue` from mansions an unknown band from music ground of seattle. its lyrics are so soft and fragile in a special way of getting spoken and disappearing completely. a voice that doesn't rise above a whisper. there's a lot in between, as well. especially a late eve-nin` pleasure for sure.

lower dens

oh what a perl.
4-piece dream-pop-band lower dens seduces us with their jangling song ondine. this is the best mixture of synth and guitar sounds i've heard for a long time. well done.

I think you'll understand
The way I feel can't be helped
You owe them nothing
It's time to walk away and leave this behind
Let go

once they looked like giants: i don`t know why...

you wanna teach but not be taught
and i wanna sell but not be bought
so let us not be someone
lost in between our needs and wants
so let us not be lonesome

...i`m literally lacking approach for dcfc`s newer material including their last three ep`s since 2006. maybe i`m too obsessed with their earlier soundscapes and a zeitgeisty momentum of urgency and distorted dynamics in the matter of rare-angled independent music combined with gibbard`s classy songwriting. nevertheless within followed worthwhile black cab session at least i`m revelling a little bit of death cab fomer ball possession... see you in november once again, then with a superb newcomer support as well from seattle of course: chastity belt!

video of the week

once more i`d like to commemorate not only one of the punchiest female rock acts at present but also an extremely farseeing british video artist behind them, who has been familiar with electronic musicians like aphex twin and björk. chris cunningham, in marriage with warpaint`s bassist jenny lee lindberg, has filmed an as far as possible unknown documentary about warpaint and her self titled lp released in 2014. an excerpt out of it constitutes a short-cut music video from their single `love is to die`. as well as he has been responsible for warpaint`s cover artwork including four matched faces of each band members. eye-minded his footage seems very inspiring so far. indeed not really a huge surprise if you know the producing standard of the ladies` previous work. relaxed coolness!

`cause the good things comin`

even 12 years later today`s vision of an older chan marshall song makes you still thinking of `you are free`times since back to these days. a cat will always have enough bite power yet. "hold the gun way deep down.."
